Not Churchy Enough for the Church, Too Faithful for the World
By Onomaly
There’s a space many of us find ourselves in. Too real, too raw, and too rooted in faith to fit neatly into anyone’s box.
We're not churchy enough for the church. Maybe we don’t speak in Christianese, don’t shout on cue, or don’t look the way people expect “church folks” to look. Our tattoos, our grills, our streetwear, our playlists, they might raise eyebrows in some pews. But our hearts? They beat for Christ. Our lives? They testify, even when our style doesn’t.
At the same time, we’re too faithful for the world. The parties, the hookup culture, the chase for clout — it doesn’t satisfy us. We know too much about grace to settle for surface-level living. We've seen too much of God’s hand to walk blindly in the dark. We live by Kingdom code, not culture cues.
This tension isn’t confusion, it’s calling.
Our identity isn’t rooted in fitting in. It’s in standing firm. We don’t water down our faith to be accepted, and we don’t perform holiness to be approved. We exist in the middle, not lukewarm, but lit with purpose. We walk by faith in sneakers, not shame. We carry crosses, not perfection.
Our community? It’s for the misfits, the unchurchy saints, the reformed rebels, and the ones who love Jesus and good design. For those who don’t need a pulpit to preach. Who understand that ministry can look like authenticity, creativity, and conviction. All wrapped in a hoodie and holy boldness.
This is for the ones who get side-eyed in both spaces, yet stand tall in truth.
You’re not alone. You’re not confused.
You’re called.
You’re covered.
You’re chosen. right where you are.
